The busiest and perhaps the most active student activity cell, the Sports Cell organizes sports and game events for students and staff members. Among the events that the Sports Cell has organised so far are an inter-institute T-20 cricket tournament with IIM Calcutta and a host of intra-school competitions like table tennis completion, pool tournament, cricket and volleyball matches. Flash decisions to organise sports events like a T-20 cricket match is their hallmark which pleasantly surprises all.
The cultural cell at Calcutta Business School comprising of 5 students plan and organize various socio-cultural events which gives an opportunity to take a break from rigorous academic activities. The Cell organizes song and dance renditions, skit competitions, parties and observe various day’s like Teacher’s Day and Independence Day.
Food & Beverage Committee
A 4-member food and beverages committee oversees the day to day running of the mess at the institute. Activities, right form menu planning to streamlining the operations so as to cater to everyone’s tastes to aiding the service provider in managing the canteen are under the ambit of the committee.
The systems cell comprising 5 members provide support to information technology and systems backbone of the institute. Although their role is supportive but they take active part in installation and maintenance of the IT Infrastructure, maintenance of the CBS website, and keeping IT systems secure.
Marketing Club – Mpower
Mpower brings together students interested in marketing to a common platform where they can sharpen their skill further in a creative and value driven environment. The club organises workshops, marketing games, quizzes, seminars and guest lectures by marketing managers as well as by speakers from academia. The club makes it a point to update its display boards regularly with latest happenings in the fast changing marketing world with write-ups on key marketing issues, puzzles and riddles.
Finance Club – Dolphin
The motto of Dolphin is fun & finance. The club aims to inculcate a research based attitude towards global financial issues. Keeping the motto in view, the club has actively been involved in organising seminars by eminent personalities, quizzes, utility games, etc. It updates its display boards regularly with mind teasers, short competitions as well as up-to-date information and facts from the finance world. The club regularly calls eminent personalities from industry of get a better perspective of financial markets, both national and international. The club actively watches economic factors affecting market trends directly and indirectly. This initiative has helped the students understand financial market in a holistic manner.
Corporate Relations Cell
To maintain close interaction and interface with industry, and to aid the placement cell, we have a corporate relations cell comprising 6 members. The cell coordinates lectures by corporate and academic leaders and is responsible for maintaining a liaison with business houses.
To coordinate summer internships and final placements, Calcutta Business School has a dedicated team of 9 member strong Placement Cell. The Cell is engaged in a plethora of activities right from handling the list of companies to approach for placements to making necessary arrangements so as to ensure smooth coordination of interviews.
