Rural Immersion is compulsory for all students of Calcutta Business School. It is designed to give students a feel of rural realities. This unique concept is been implemented with an intention of sensitizing the students to become a part of rural development through various activities in rural areas.
Rural Immersion is the process to become part of development by having deep involvement in rural economy by arranging activities at rural areas of our country. It is a deep mental and physical involvement for betterment of society. It is a process of Nation Building by youth for sustainable development of Society.
Taking this in to consideration, Calcutta Business School has created a platform for students to understand development of Rural India through this program. This is a very positive step to integrate the students with the heart of India i.e. Rural Society. The idea of Rural Immersion Programme was is not only limited to give exposure to students to visit villages for one day rural tourism activity but to create a learning opportunity for students of urban background by actually living in the rural areas for a few days, understand their plight, problems and value system and their courage to cope up with the continuous natural and man-made calamities that the farming sector is facing. Their struggle is inspiring and their contribution to food security for our country is enormous.
Food and Accomdation.
As we were going to visit a rural area, we adapted ourselves and welcomed few changes for a few days. From our experience, the food served to us was very good, the accommodation was looked after and properly arranged. Transportation was by road as well as by boat rides .
This was a pilot project to sensitise us about Rural Immersion and in the month of March the actual Rural Immersion Project will be starting.
We shall visit places like Sunderban (Boat ride), Nimpith Ashram,Jharkhali .
Land areas where projects are carried out in and around Sunderbans.
Maheshmari( When UNESCO project is carried out.)
Kultoli(Honey collection of Sunderbans.),anima husbandry,mushroom research centre.
The institutes are run by DST and in collaboration with NABARD, World Bank has carried out various experiments and projects and students from various eminent institutions visit the places to carry out projects on Rural Immersion Programme.
