The Second International Conference on Frontiers of Operations Research and Business Studies (FORBS) in association with Operations Research Society of India, Durgapur Chapter was held in the premises of Calcutta Business School on 27th and 28th of December, 2019. We had respectable Jhawar Sir as our chief guest. The inaugural session was conducted by lighting the lamp. The session began with the welcome note by Prof. Sanjib Biswas.
The primary purpose of the International Conference was to bring under an umbrella the diverse credos, doctrines and ideologies of eminent speakers, erudite professors and sagacious industrialists from different parts of the world. There were various topics discussed by people form different backgrounds. The conference being a two-day event had the speakers divided for the first and the second day. The learned academicians spoke on various subject matters viz. Lessons from a game with focus on probability and the game of Casino, Challenges involved in Decision making, Problem Solving techniques for socio-economic systems with reference to statistical data, Risk Management in software development and engineering projects, Economics as early childhood education and the recent developments. The day had preponderance of technical topics which absorbed the attention of every individual attending the sessions.
The first day of the event ended with a cultural event with the focus on Unity in Diversity. Students of Calcutta Business School actively participated in the cultural event.
The second day of the colloquium had ascendancy of topics related directly with real life scenarios thereby developing and retaining the interest of all. On the second day of the event we had:
The topics discussed by the knowledgeable intellects were Touch or No Touch Product Judgement and Individual Orientations, A review of Operations, Management and analytics in US Healthcare delivery, Industry 4.0 and its implication on Society and Business. This topic was a panel discussion and an interactive session between the panel members and the listeners. Mr. Abhishek Sinha created an impact upon us with his erudition. He made us aware how Technology is changing jobs globally and its future prospects. Mr. Sinha also enlightened us about the areas that are likely to create jobs in the upcoming years.
We are heartily thankful to all the dignitaries who helped us gain valuable insights of various topics. I, as a student of Calcutta Business School, am really thankful to my institution for giving me the opportunity to learn so much! The plethora of learning would definitely benefit students, academicians and research scholars attending the session.
I would be looking forward to attending more such sessions, in my future during my course of PGDM, which has left an indelible mark on my mind.
