“Die Empty” has been written by renowned author Todd Henry who has also written the International bestseller “The Accidental Creative: How to be Brilliant at a Moment’s notice”. It has rightly been mentioned that reading a book often feels like sitting with the author and chatting over a cup of tea. Often self help books are written to pass on lessons of life from people who have a lot to offer. Such books reveal various significant truths which surprise the reader. “Die Empty” is one such book which has served as a guide to every individual striving for personal growth.
Human being brains are wired to stay in one’s comfort zone. As soon as one move beyond it there are various triggers that tend to bring ourselves back to normalcy. Today people have fallen trap to poor time management and fail to take control of their lives. One more behavior that humans usually fall trap to is procrastination. We tend to procrastinate things till it gets alarming and at the end we are hassled and restless. The book focuses on the phenomena that people live with the stubborn idea that we will always have the next day. But the fact is that sooner or later we all will run out of tomorrows. Inside of us there is a voice that guides us to differentiate right or wrong. But outside there is a lot of chaos that stifles our inner self and motivation. This reminds me of my favorite quote from the book that, “Greatness emerges when you consistently choose to do what’s right even when it is uncomfortable”.
Todd Henry explains that every single day counts to build us and one must do their best to achieve astounding results. He has offered multiple tools to help the reader discover their best abilities. Every day is a lesson in this lifelong learning process and one must challenge them to do better each day. As a student of Calcutta Business School and a budding manager there were numerous lessons to reflect on my own life. It is beneficial to what I communicate to myself and how I always choose to do the right thing and not get hindered by the outside chaos. Every decision I take, however small it may be, it is actually a choice that I make. Similar is the case with a manger, any decision of him reflects the firms performance. Thus it is crucial to make wiser decisions and often involve risks as it is beneficial for the growth.
