On 27th and 28th July Calcutta Business School organized a 2 day workshop on Empirical Research In Finance.
It was an open to all workshop aiming to impart knowledge on empirical research and how to use it as a tool in various finance related researches.
In the financial sector, a large volume of data is generated on stock prices, exchange rates,, option prices, net asset values etc on real time basis. In order to analyze this large volume of data and generate meaningful results, there is a need to learn the application of appropriate techniques to test various hypotheses.
The main objectives of the workshop were to impart understanding of statistics and machine learning tools, to enable participants to develop framework for forecasting of returns , as well as impart hands on training of these techniques in a lab environment.
