Since its inception in 1880, Exide is one of the most well recognised battery brands in India. Exide has a wide distribution network and services, which is continuously monitored and kept contemporary. The brand has earned for itself a unique status by becoming a household name. Studies have shown that brand Exide's unaided recall with the target audience is more than 90 per cent.
Exide offers batteries for nearly every conceivable application; from golf carts and motorcycles to submarines and inverters. Its technology options range from maintenance free batteries to standard service batteries, from fully charged to dry-charged ones.
Recently, the company has forayed into the area of non-conventional energy sources like solar and wind power, backed by low maintenance batteries
In the plant we were guided by Mr. Subhankar Sengupta, Senior Engineer of Exide Industry Limited who explained us in detail about the entire manufacturing cycle and how the imported machines worked. We were also introduced to a new type of technology- usage of robotic machines which was completely new to us. The visit was a good one and we benefited from this hands on experience.
