Experiential learning

Experiential learning is the process of learning through experience and is more specifically defined as ‘learning through reflection on doing.’ Experiential learning is a method of educating through first hand experience and includes skills, knowledge and experience acquired outside the traditional academic classroom setting, and may include internships, study and tours abroad, field trips and field research. It essentially involves learning from experience. The advantages that experiential learning has over traditional classroom and instructor centric methods are

  • Access to real time coaching
  • Promotion of team work and communication skills
  • Ability to apply knowledge immediately.

Integrating experiential learning into content based courses builds confidence, necessary skills and helps students to do internships successfully later and in due course in real life work environment. Experiential learning gives students the opportunity to practice and develop attitudes as resilience, tenacity, curiosity, and self direction.

Calcutta Business School, one of the best B Schools of Kolkata offering PGDM Programme, realized the importance of experiential learning and hence included several distinctive features as part of its experiential learning. It has four such unique features, viz, International Study Tour, Rural Immersion, Outbound Leadership Practicum , 2 Internships ( Autumn and Summer). Each of these are unique and give students the root and wings to think freely and widen the ambit of knowledge.
