Management education needs real, practical and hands on experience to create able future managers .With this objective in view, factory visits have been included in the PGDM curriculum.
Students of PGDM Batch 2018-20 of Calcutta Business School went for a factory visit to Tractors India Limited (TIL), Kamarhati on 31st July’18 along with two faculty and two staff members.
Tractors India Limited is engaged in the design, manufacture and marketing of a comprehensive range of material handling, lifting, port equipment and road building solutions for the Indian market, duly supported by an integrated after sales support.
Students were taken to their Kamarhati factory to get first-hand knowledge about their production methods, to get an idea about their various best practices followed and to get an idea as to how a machine shop floor operates in a manufacturing unit.
Students first went through a corporate presentation of Tractors India Ltd followed by shop floor visit. During shop floor visit students were briefed about various operational and quality control processes as well as new ergonomic trends. It was an interactive session where students also asked about TIL’s competitive practices, customer base, suppliers , and R&D initiatives.
