International Study Tour

Calcutta Business School launched the International Study Tour for the second year PGDM students with the objective of providing them an opportunity to acquire valuable insights about international business and management practices in other countries. This was felt necessary because many of our PGDM students get jobs in MNCs or their subsidiaries or associate companies in India. Given this placement scenario, it was felt that our students would be able to perform more effectively if they were provided an “immersive experience” in another country. For the last two years Calcutta Business School is visiting Taylor’s University in Malaysia for a Study Tour along with professors of our college.

The specific objectives of the International Study Tour is to provide a cross-cultural exposure, to learn from faculty members of a top university in Malaysia and to get a glimpse into how businesses are run there.

During the programme the students were given an understanding of:

a)Sustainable supply chain management in the context of Malaysia,
b) Cultural aspects of Malaysia,
c) The evolution of a top Malaysian company in the field of mobile technology,
d) Employer-employee relations in Malaysia,
e) Issues in doing business in Malaysia.

Several professors of Taylor’s Business School as well as the Head of the European Union, Ms. Maria Castillo Fernandez, Mr. Kenny Goh, CEO of Macro Kiosk, Prof, J.S. Perry Hobson the Pro-Chancellor- Global Engagement, and Prof. Jonathan Winterton, Executive Dean among others addressed the students. The students also had an opportunity to have a quick tour of the city.
