Orientation Of The Incoming Batch 2019-21

Orientation Day is a big event in CBS calendar every year and this year also was no exception.

Orientation for the 12th Batch (2019-21)of the 2 yr full time AICTE approved PGDM Program was a 3 day affair ( 1st-3rd July) and like every year it was held in Michael Porter Hall where all new students were welcomed warmly by the faculty and staff members of CBS.

Students were made familiar with their Professors, who gave presentations on what students would be studying for next 2 years, appraised about the various Clubs and their activities and generally were made aware of the entire academic calendar.

The session started with a welcome message by Mr Debojyoti Saha- AGM Admission, who emphasized on team workand hard work. The next speaker was Prof Suman Kr Dawn, Chairman PGDM Program and acting Principal who spoke about merits of discipline and focused concentration in order to be successful in life. Prof Tamal Dutta Chaudhuri- Dean, spoke about the importance of data and how to process data successfully. Prof Shekhar Choudhuri-Director, spoke on VUCA which stands for volatility, uncertainty, complexity and ambiguity .He also stressed on excellence, innovation and collaboration . The next speaker was Mr R.S.Jhawar, member, BOG, who emphasized on need of good communication skills specially. Prof Siddhartha Sengupta – Associate Dean and Chairman ,Placement and Corporate Relations appraised students about current placement details and qualities required in a student from recruiters’ point of view. Mr. Shamya Roy Choudhuri, GM- Berger Paints, candidly discussed with students about what the industry expects from a fresher.Students were also made aware of the rules and regulations of the Campus, dos and don’ts of Hostel life, facilities and amenities available in the campus. In general they were made to feel comfortable in Calcutta Business School which would be their home for the next 2 years. Students also undertook an oath where they promised to strive for excellence in all activities during the course of their studies.
